The Story Behind Painting the Future: How One Moment Changed Everything

A New Beginning

Every book has a beginning, but sometimes, the real story starts long before the first page is written.

For me, Painting the Future wasn’t just a story idea that popped into my head one day. It was something deeper. A spark that lit up when I least expected it, something that felt like it had been waiting for me all along.

This is the first blog post on the site, so it only feels right to pull back the curtain and let you in on how this journey started. If you’re here, it probably means you love stories, and if you love stories, then you know that the best ones, the ones that stay with you—aren’t just about the plot. They’re about the heart behind them.

And trust me, this book? It has a lot of heart.

The Moment Everything Changed

It was April 2023, just before Easter. I was visiting my daughter, Kristina. We spent the weekend watching films, talking about storytelling, and, honestly, just enjoying the kind of conversations that make you forget about time.

Lately, I have been watching a lot of different films on Netflix—different genres, different styles—just immersing myself in storytelling. My daughter and I love analyzing films, discussing ideas, breaking down scripts, and admiring the depth of emotion that actors bring to their roles.

But something had been growing inside me. The more I watched, the more I admired the sheer professionalism behind these stories. Hollywood, with its ability to bring together the perfect actors, directors, and writers, fascinated me. I saw how deeply they could make people feel, how stories could carry profound messages, and how meaning could be embedded into every frame.

Then, we started watching Bridgerton: The Story of Queen Charlotte. And that’s when it happened.

This film struck me in a way no other had before. It wasn’t just the romance, the drama, or the historical depth—it was the structure of the story itself. The person who wrote it, the writer or screenwriter, did something remarkable.

The entire meaning of the film, everything it had been building toward, was revealed in the final three minutes before the credits rolled.

That moment stunned me.

To deliver something so profound, so powerful, right at the end? That, to me, was the pinnacle of professionalism. It wasn’t just storytelling; it was mastery.

And that was when I turned to Kristina and said:

" This is what I want to learn how to do. I want to write stories like this. I want to embed deep meanings into them and bring light through my books. I want to become a true professional and create masterpieces."

It wasn’t just about writing for the sake of telling a story. It was about creating something that mattered. Something that could reach people on a deep level, that could stay with them long after they turned the last page.

And three days later, the universe answered.

I was driving to Kristina’s house, still thinking about that moment, when something unexplainable happened. A surge of energy, a burning sensation at the crown of my head, a certainty so strong it felt like it had been waiting for me all my life.

By the time I arrived, I knew.

The idea for Painting the Future wasn’t just an abstract concept—it was alive. I already had the world, the characters, and the key moments of the plot. It wasn’t just one book; it was a trilogy. It was as if the universe had placed the story in my hands and said, Now, tell it.

The Writing Process: A Journey of Its Own

I never planned to be a writer. My background is in civil engineering, designing homes and bringing ideas to life in a different way. Then life took unexpected turns, and I found myself diving into psychology and healing. I spent years helping others, searching for something that truly reignited my passion, something that felt like me.

And then came writing.

At first, it felt surreal. I wasn’t just coming up with a story—I was discovering it. Every day, I woke up with new ideas, new scenes playing out in my mind like a film I couldn’t pause.

I wrote all three books of the trilogy at the same time. In just a week, the entire outline was there, clear as day.

The characters weren’t just names on a page. They were real. They had voices, pasts, secrets, and struggles. And no matter how much I tried to slow down, the story wouldn’t let me.

But writing a book is more than just putting words on paper. It’s an emotional rollercoaster. Some days, I was completely in love with the process. Other days, I questioned everything.

Would people care about this story? Was I good enough to tell it the way it deserved to be told? Would I ever finish it the way I imagined?

Despite the doubts, I kept going. Because deep down, I knew this was the story I was meant to tell.

So, What is Painting the Future About?

At its core, Painting the Future is a dark fantasy thriller that follows Jessica Hart, a girl with a rare gift—her paintings reveal glimpses of the future. She doesn’t know why or how, only that it’s not something she can ignore.

When she’s sent to Collinson Academy, she starts uncovering secrets about her past, her powers, and the dangerous battle between the Light Ones and Dark Ones. As visions of war and betrayal fill her canvas, she’s forced to make impossible choices, torn between what she sees and what she feels.

It’s a story about fate and free will, about identity and power. It’s about how sometimes, the greatest battle isn’t with the enemy—it’s with yourself.

Why This Story Matters

I believe stories can change us. They can make us feel seen, understood, and less alone. They can challenge us, inspire us, and remind us that even in the darkest moments, there is always light.

Painting the Future is my way of exploring those ideas. It’s a book for anyone who has ever felt lost, for anyone who has ever questioned where they belong, for anyone who knows what it’s like to be afraid of what’s inside them.

And it’s just the beginning.

What’s Next?

This is the first of many posts where I’ll be sharing the journey behind the book. I’ll talk about the characters, the world-building, and all the behind-the-scenes moments that shaped Painting the Future into what it is.

If you love fantasy, mystery, and stories that keep you on the edge of your seat, I hope you’ll stick around.

Because the future is already in motion. And trust me, you won’t want to miss what comes next.
